You have decided to return an item. It’s a shame it wasn’t quite what you were looking for, but of course that’s no problem!
To ensure your return can be processed quickly and without hassle, it’s important that the product arrives with us in the same condition as it left. After all, nobody likes damaged goods. Good packaging is essential for this.
Below, we explain step by step how to make your return shipment ‘travel-ready’ in the most sustainable way possible.
Choose the right box
The easiest option is to use the original box in which you received your order. This is often not only the most practical, but also the most sustainable: reusing means fewer new packages, less waste and fewer raw materials needed again.
Already thrown it away? No worries. Of course, you can use another box as well. The most important thing is that it’s a sturdy box that fits the item well and can support the weight of the product during transport.
Protect the contents
On the way back, a parcel can sometimes get bumped around in the delivery van or the sorting centre. That’s why it’s important to protect the product well on the inside.
Make sure the item cannot slide or rattle around inside the box. Fill empty spaces well with protective material. Think of the original bubble wrap, foam padding, or if necessary, some scrunched up (newspaper) paper. If you gently shake the box and hear nothing moving, you’re good to go.
Attaching the return label
As the final step, seal the box securely with strong tape. Then it’s time for the return label.
Stick this label clearly visible on the top or largest flat side of the parcel. Make sure the entire label, especially the barcode, is flat and not folded over an edge, otherwise the carrier cannot scan it.
Tip: Are you using an old box? Quickly check if there are any old shipping labels still on it and remove them to avoid confusion along the way.
There you go, your parcel is ready! You can now hand it in at the shipping point with peace of mind.
