You’ve just dropped off your parcel at the shipping point and suddenly doubt creeps in: "Did I actually seal that box properly?" or "Was that box sturdy enough for the journey?".
That can be a shock, because of course you want your return to arrive safely. What’s the best thing to do in such a situation?
Checklist: How to do it right (for next time)
To avoid disappointment, it’s good to know what a proper package should meet. Below we’ve listed the golden rules once again.
The right box
The safest option is always the original box in which you received your order. Don’t have it anymore? Then make sure you use a sturdy replacement box that can bear the weight and won’t collapse if other parcels are stacked on top of it.
Protection on the inside
The most important thing is that the product cannot slide or rattle.
- Make sure to use filling: Use bubble wrap, foam, or scrunched-up newspaper to fill empty spaces.
- The test: If you gently shake the box and hear nothing moving, you’re good.
The label and the outside
Finally, the courier needs to know where it’s going.
- Stick the return label on the largest flat part of the box.
- Make sure the barcode is flat (not folded over an edge).
- Important: Remove old shipping labels to avoid confusion and delays along the way.
